This class is technically an intermediate level but she caters it to whoever shows up and there happened to be more beginners in the class this time. My only critique is that as a beginner, the choreo was pretty challenging for what I thought was an entry level heels class. She did let us know we could make substitutions on the parts we couldn’t do but I would say by the end of the class I didn’t feel like I had mastered the phrase.

As a childhood dancer of 14 years returning after over a decade off, he has been patient and caring (as well as fun and endlessly entertaining) and never fails to explain if you stop to ask. I love that he teaches from his heart as well as from an anatomy/physiology perspective, teaching us to understand why and how our bodies need to move but how to also imbue our movements with grace, musicality, and feeling. You can tell his love for dance runs deep and it comes through in the way he teaches. He sees everyone’s individual potential and tailors his instruction not only to that but also to the level of drive and desire to progress/perform that he sees in each student. I have seen Elliot literally get on the floor to shape a student’s foot to help them understand the mechanics of a movement. If that’s not commitment and care, I don’t know what is! I will take classes with Elliot as long as he teaches.

The tapping noise helps guide you and the tread impedes some of your moves. But nice people and a fun hour. The beginning class isn’t a huge cardio workout. Parking is on the street and behind the building on one half of the lot (make sure to find a space for Evolution and not the other business, they are serious about the allocated spaces). Entrance is in back. There are several studios in here so the desk can direct you.

I’d rate the class more as intermediate/advanced but it was tons of fun with no pressure to perform super well. Ana had great energy and was helpful throughout! If you need to go over certain parts, you have to be proactive and ask because she often is doing the dance with us so she doesn’t see much of the areas we struggle with. Overall, great experience! I would definitely want to come back again and possibly warm up with the class before (turns).
